SASSA once again had to head to social media to dispel any fake news and to set the story straight. Fake news is especially dangerous when it comes to an agency such as SASSA which many depend on for their survival.
The fake news was in the form of a Facebook post which read:
"To parents who receive a grant for their children. Kindly get a letter from the child's school confirming that the child is attending that particular school. Take the letter and the child's report, submit both the confirmation letter and school report to SASSA. They will supply your child with stationery and school uniform."
SASSA then made it clear that this was fake and warned Child Support social grant recipients from it.
They then set the record straight by saying:
The agency does not supply any stationery or school uniform but ONLY provides social grants.
If you want to make sure that a message is true or not directly from SASSA, you can contact SASSA to confirm if it's legit.
