The University of South Africa (Unisa) is a distance learning institution that offers an array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to students throughout South Africa and other countries.

Unisa provides a flexible and accessible option for students who are unable to attend traditional, campus-based universities.

The institution opened Semester 2 applications for the 2023 academic year for selected Undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral qualifications (some exceptions apply) opened from Monday, 17 April 2022.

Unisa has encouraged all interested students to submit their applications before the closing date, to avoid disappointment.

The Unisa application window is set to close on Friday, 5 May 2023.

Application Fees

All students submitting online applications are liable to pay an application fee of R125.

This fee is non-refundable even if students decide not to study through Unisa, do not qualify for admission to Unisa or cannot be offered a space due to limited spaces available.

The institution does not accept cash at any of its offices, therefore all payments have to be done via Debit card, Credit card, Unisa web credit card payments, Bank deposit or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

How to pay application fees:

  • R125 for all online applications
  • Students can visit www.unisa.ac.za/paymentinfo for banking details and payment information
  • Use the student number you receive from Unisa AND the application fee reference number as payment reference
  • Send the proof of payment to [email protected]

The due date for the application fee is the closing date for the application period.

Any application submitted without an application fee paid on time will not be processed. Students are advised to keep a copy of their proof of payment on hand should the university require it.
