Registration for the 2025 May/June Senior Certificate (SC) and National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations is now open. The May/June matric exams allow matric candidates to obtain their matric qualification. 

The Department of Education has confirmed that registrations officially opened on 1 October 2024. 

When May/June Matric Rewrite Applications Will Close

Registration for the May/June matric exams will close on 7 February 2024. This gives students just over three months to register for the exams. 

Who Can Rewrite in 2025?

Both NSC and SC candidates can register for the 2025 May/June exams.

Senior Certificate candidates, in particular, are only allowed to rewrite their exams during the May/June 2025 period. This means that for those who aren't satisfied with their initial NSFAS matric results, the May/June 2025 exams are the first chance to improve their marks.

Candidates can use this exam session to either improve their results or complete any outstanding results. The deadline to apply for the 2025 exams is 7 February 2025, so make sure you register before time runs out!

How to Register for the 2025 Matric Rewrite

SC candidates can easily register for the 2025 May/June exams online. However, if you are a National Senior Certificate (NSC) student, you will need to visit your nearest district office to complete the registration process.

2024 Final Matric Exams

The final NSC exams for 2024 are set to commence later this month. The exam period will begin on 21 October 2024 and continue through late November. 

A total of 732,448 full-time candidates have registered for the 2024 exams, marking an increase of 8,400 candidates compared to 2023. Additionally, 136,195 part-time candidates are registered to take various subjects this year.
