President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the country, much as he did during the Covid-19 pandemic with an update on national matters.
The success of the Springboks who have won the Rugby World Cup for the 4th time was the catalyst for the speech - but it was a talk that went wider than just sporting success.
After a casual comment about the need for a public holiday to celebrate the rugby success, all eyes were on the President to see whether an additional holiday would be declared.
And the public holiday is coming, but because of the current Matric final exams we'll have to wait until Friday the 15th December to celebrate it.
Other topics included in the speech were the R350 SRD Grant and the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative. While highlight the shortage of funding that the government faces, the President did not say that the SRD Grant would be done away with.
More details are expected at the MTBPS speech to be given by the Finance Minister on Wednesday 1st November.
