The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has labelled information circulating across various platforms - alleging that there will be a delay in the payment of TVET College allowances - as fake.
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. This funding covers tuition and registration fees. Students also receive several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.
TVET College students have been assured that there is no delay in allowance payments for the month of April. False social media posts circulating online indicated a delay or non-payment of allowances.
In a brief statement, NSFAS explicitly stated they are aware of "fabricated information being spread through various platforms."
The scheme labelled the information claiming that TVET College allowance payments will be delayed as false.
They added that the information is “aimed at causing unnecessary confusion and concern amongst beneficiaries and other stakeholders."
NSFAS urged students and other stakeholders to disregard any information that does not originate from their official communication channels, including their website and verified social media accounts.
Students and stakeholders are advised to remain vigilant and always verify information through official NSFAS channels to avoid being misled by false narratives.
