Sassa gold cards are set to expire at the end of May 2024. While beneficiaries will be able to use their gold cards for the April and May grant payment cycles, they will need to update their payment method for June 2024 Sassa grant payments.
The grant payment agency encouraged beneficiaries to upgrade to a new Postbank black card. The new cards boast several enhancements and increased security features.
However, there is an alternative grant payment option for gold card users who don't want to upgrade to a Postbank black card.
Alternative Option To Postbank Black Card for Sassa Grant Payments
Sassa confirmed that beneficiaries can opt to have their social grants paid into their personal bank accounts.
Clients can also choose to have their social grant paid directly into their personal bank account.
The grant payment agency added that the process of changing grant payment methods must be done at a Sassa branch.
Clients who wish to have their social grant paid directly into their personal bank account can visit their nearest Sassa Local Office.
Grant beneficiaries are required to provide Sassa with several documents to change their grant payment method.
These documents include:
- Proof of bank account received from the bank
- Three months' bank statement that shows personal details such as names and bank account number.
- Proof of identity
Beneficiaries who require additional information and clarity on social grant payments and payment method changes can call the Sassa customer care number on 0800 60 10 11.
