With the 2022 Matric results set to be released on 20 January 2023, many of the country’s grade 12 learners have either applied to further their studies or pursue alternative opportunities elsewhere.
However, it is also often the case that some post-matric learners find themselves unable to further their education due to financial circumstances or having attained poor results. This, according to experts, tends to lead to confusion and panic among this cohort of learners.
Fortunately for those willing to pursue alternative avenues to upskill themselves and become employable. The Sector Training and Education Authority (SETA) system, a combination of statutory bodies with 21 branches tasked with providing skills development in various sectors, is an option worth considering.
Sisekelo Sustainability Institute is among the institutions that are skills development providers under SETA. They provide leadership programmes in Business and Information Technology (IT). Upon joining their year-long occupational programme, candidates are then exposed to the labour market equipped with skills that are currently in demand.
CEO of the company Sabelo Myeni, further states that the short programmes differ in terms of their period, with some ranging from 3 to 6 months. The company is currently taking in students and willing candidates are encouraged to visit their online website or their office branch in Sandton.
Learners are advised to ensure that they are aware of which learnership programme they would prefer to pursue and that although the institution specialises in Business and IT, candidates will be assisted in joining programmes in other areas such as engineering and agriculture.
