The Education Department said that the provinces’ online applications for Grade 1 & Grade 8 will be open from 22 July 2022 and close on 19 August 2022.

In an announcement, the department said:

Schools will receive an auto alert each time new documents are uploaded by applicants and highlight all uploaded documents for schools to verify.

It is said that the system will prompt schools to answer whether an applicant has submitted documents physically.

Should documents be successfully submitted to the system, the school will be alerted to verify and update the document status.

In the event that the documents are not successfully submitted, the system will create an alert on the parent’s profile and they’ll be reminded to submit the required documents via SMS.

Within seven days of applying, parents will be required to upload certified documents to the system or physically submit them to the schools of their choice.

The department has also advised parents to double-check that the information they enter into the system matches the information on the learner's documents.

Parents and caregivers are advised to apply as soon as they can once the system is open to avoid learners being unplaced when schools reopen for the 2023 school year.
