The University of Limpopo was established as a result of the Medical University of Southern Africa and the University of the North merging on 1 January 2005. UL has various faculties available which include the school of education.
The school of education offers programmes that are designed to ensure that students will deliver a responsive and relevant education system for South Africa. The School of education is primarily committed to rural regeneration, empowerment, and development through a lifelong learning approach to learning and interdisciplinary research in a caring environment.

- National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an NQF Level 4 National Certificate (Vocational) with an endorsement for entry into Bachelor studies and with appropriate subject combinations and levels of achievement with a minimum APS of 24
