Leading energy and chemicals company Sasol is inviting applications for its Chemical Plant Operator Learnership Programme in Komatipoort, Mpumalanga.
The learnership offers unemployed South Africans an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience and structured training within the chemical and energy sector while working towards a recognised qualification.
Applications close on 15 June 2026.
About The Sasol Chemical Plant Operator Learnership
The Chemical Plant Operator Learnership is a structured training programme that combines theoretical learning with practical on-the-job experience.
Successful candidates will gain exposure to the operations of a chemical processing environment while developing the skills and knowledge required to work safely and effectively within the industry.
The programme is offered on a fixed-term contract for the duration of the learnership.
Learnership Location
The positions are based in Komatipoort, Mpumalanga.
Sasol has indicated that preference will be given to applicants residing in the Nkomazi area.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Sasol Chemical Plant Operator Learnership, applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:
Option 1: Grade 12 Qualification
A completed National Senior Certificate with six subjects, including:
- Mathematics or Technical Mathematics
- English
- Physical Science or Technical Science
Option 2: N3 Qualification
A completed N3 qualification with six subjects, including:
- Mathematics
- English
- Engineering Science
What Learners Will Do
Participants in the programme will be expected to:
- Participate fully in the learnership programme
- Complete all required assessments successfully
- Attend and participate in structured learning activities
- Take part in workplace readiness programmes and development exercises
- Gain practical experience in a chemical plant operating environment
