About The Sanlam Claims Assessor Learnership

Sanlam is recruiting learners to join its Claims Assessor Learnership within Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM).

Sanlam Developing Markets is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited and provides affordable financial solutions to South Africa's entry-level and emerging middle market. The business offers products including funeral insurance, life cover, education savings and personal accident plans.

The learnership is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in claims administration while developing the knowledge and practical skills required to process insurance claims efficiently and professionally.

Claims Assessor Learnership Duties

Successful learners will assist with a variety of claims administration functions, including:

  • Assessing insurance claims on the claims administration system.
  • Verifying the validity of claims by ensuring all required supporting documents have been submitted.
  • Reviewing documents such as signed claim forms, identity documents, death certificates, proof of bank details and other required documentation.
  • Processing valid claims for payment.
  • Communicating outstanding documentation requirements to clients.
  • Rejecting invalid claims in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring all claims are processed in line with service level agreements (SLAs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Capturing claims accurately while maintaining an error rate of less than 1%.
  • Providing timely written and verbal feedback to clients regarding the status of their claims.
  • Responding to client queries and assisting with reporting and other administrative duties.

Sanlam Learnership Requirements

To be considered for the Claims Assessor Learnership, applicants must meet the following minimum requirement:

  • Matric (Grade 12).
