MTN Bayobab Opens Applications For Finance Graduate Opportunity
 

MTN’s wholesale infrastructure division, Bayobab, is calling on ambitious finance graduates to apply for its Finance Graduate opportunity. This programme gives young professionals the chance to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, consolidation, and technical accounting within one of Africa’s leading telecom networks.
 

This opportunity is designed for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are passionate about finance and ready to grow in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will support the Bayobab Finance team with financial reporting, intercompany processes, and compliance across the group.

About the Role

The Finance Graduate will assist with month-end activities for Fibre Companies, prepare and review financial statements, and ensure compliance with IFRS and Bayobab’s reporting standards. The role also involves supporting consolidation across subsidiaries and managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

This is an excellent opportunity for analytical, detail-oriented individuals eager to add value to MTN’s finance operations and gain exposure to a pan-African corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Manage end-to-end intercompany processes with operating companies and finance teams.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions using the Hyperion Intercompany Tool.
  • Assist in month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Support consolidation of financial results across Bayobab and its subsidiaries.
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
  • Assist with audit preparations and cash flow statements.
  • Provide reports and insights to support group financial disclosures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in accounting and reporting processes.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (Honours degree is advantageous).
  • Studying towards or recently completed CA(SA), ACCA, or equivalent qualification.

Experience and Skills

  • 0–2 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role (including internships or articles).
  • Basic understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Oracle or SAP will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytical tools.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Commitment to service delivery and excellence.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be based in Johannesburg.
  • Driver’s licence and own transport are advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
