Ivanplats has opened applications for its 2026 Artisan Learnership Programme, offering young South Africans an opportunity to gain technical training and work experience in the mining sector.
The learnership opportunities are available at Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, which is developing its world-class palladium, rhodium, nickel, copper and gold project near Mokopane in Limpopo.
The company uses advanced mechanised underground mining methods and modern technology as part of its vision to build a "mine of the future".
Artisan Learnership Fields
Successful applicants will receive training in technical disciplines that support Ivanplats' mining operations. Available learnership opportunities include:
- Auto Electrician
- Boilermaker
- Diesel Mechanic
- Fitter and Turner
- Instrumentation
- Mechanical Fitter
- Millwright
- Rigger
Minimum Requirements For The Ivanplats Learnership
To qualify for the Artisan Learnership Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have a Grade 12 certificate
- Achieve a minimum of 60% in Mathematics and Physical Science
- Hold an N2 qualification in an engineering field
- Be willing to work both underground and on surface where required
- Pass the relevant medical fitness assessment
- Complete any required capability assessments
Learnership Duration
The successful candidates will participate in the programme for a maximum period of three years or until they obtain their trade qualification, whichever comes first.
Documents Required
Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:
- A comprehensive CV
- Certified copies of qualifications
- A certified copy of their South African ID document
- A letter from the relevant Tribal Authority or Induna
