Impala Platinum’s Graduate Nursing Internship offers a unique, 24-month opportunity for qualified nursing learners to gain hands-on experience within the PGM (platinum group metals) sector.
Based in Gauteng, this programme blends practical training in primary health care, medical surveillance, and occupational health—equipping you with the skills to support a healthy workforce in a dynamic mining environment.
Who Should Apply?
- Diploma in General Nursing or Occupational Health (NQF Level 6)
- (Advantageous) Registration with the South African Nursing Council
- Understanding of primary health care, risk-based medical surveillance (spirometry, audiometry), and occupational health legislation
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Medically fit for Basic Medical Rescue (BMR) and/or Portable Medical Rescue (PMR) duties
What You’ll Do
- Complete a structured 24-month internship focused on the PGM industry’s health requirements, including occupational disease monitoring and primary health care provision.
- Conduct pre-employment, routine, and exit medical screenings to safeguard employee and contractor health.
- Educate staff on health and lifestyle topics, empowering a culture of wellness across Impala Platinum’s operations.
- Collaborate with an external multidisciplinary medical team to deliver comprehensive care and timely referrals.
