Department of Employment and Labour Project 20K Internship Programme 2025–2027

The Department of Employment and Labour is inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for its Internship Programme for the 2025 to 2027 financial years. This opportunity is ideal for young graduates seeking valuable workplace experience and the chance to contribute to the Department’s mission of promoting fair labour practices across South Africa.

Who can apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens with a valid ID.
  • Be unemployed graduates who have never participated in an internship programme before.
  • Hold a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in one of the following fields:
    • Labour Relations
    • BCom Law
    • LLB
    • Labour Law
    • Commercial Law
  • Have a Matric certificate and a relevant post-school qualification.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist inspectors in conducting workplace inspections to assess compliance with the Employment Equity Act and related regulations.
  • Support investigations into complaints related to Employment Equity Act contraventions.
  • Provide administrative support to inspectors and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit the following:

  • A completed and signed Z83 form.
  • A recent CV.
  • Certified copies of their Matric certificate, qualification (with SAQA-recognised credits), academic record, and ID document.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be required to complete a pre-entry practical exercise to assess suitability for the internship.
