The variety of opportunities within nursing is what makes it one of the top careers to consider these days.

The field of nursing is constantly evolving, particularly in recent years as the population ages and as medical technology advances. Nurses are able to take advantage of this evolution by choosing what area they want to specialize in. And whether you plan to work in a hospital or clinic setting, in private practice, or somewhere else entirely, there are plenty of ways to find a fulfilling and rewarding career as a nurse.

Studying nursing

As a nursing student, you may be currently studying to become an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), but you may wonder if there are other options that might be more fulfilling or lucrative.

Nursing jobs

The nursing profession offers numerous opportunities for individuals interested in helping others through a variety of different avenues.

For example, there are many different types of nurses that can have specific focuses on certain areas such as pediatrics, geriatrics, emergency care, etc. The majority of RNs (registered nurses) work in hospitals and can choose from being an obstetrician-gynecologist nurse (OB/GYN), which includes working with women giving birth or a cardiac nurse (CCRN), which includes working with heart patients. There are also other types of nurses that work within hospital settings including pediatric critical care nurse (PCRN), medical surgical nurse (MSN), bedside nurse (BSN) etc.

Nurses are caregivers, nurses are healers, and nurses are doctors. As a nurse, you're a vital member of the healthcare team, and there's a type of nurse that's right for every person. Whether you're interested in emergency medicine or pediatrics, if you want to create the kind of work environment that makes you feel fulfilled and brings out your best self for your patients and colleagues, you can find it as a nurse.

In addition to providing people with healing care on a personal level, many nurses have careers that directly benefit the community as a whole. Nurses are leaders in public health initiatives like promoting healthy living or administering vaccinations.

This is an exciting time to be entering the nursing field; with advances in medical technology, there are more opportunities than ever before.
