Flight attendants are responsible for all aspects of passenger service during a flight, including ticketing, checking in baggage and seating arrangements. They also check the cabin prior to departure to ensure safety regulations are met. When the cabin doors close, they go over safety procedures with passengers and demonstrate how to use emergency equipment such as life vests and oxygen masks.

In addition to enforcing security and safety regulations, flight attendants try to make flights comfortable and stress free for passengers by offering services such as meals, refreshments, pillows, blankets and magazines. During the flight, they check on passengers' comfort, offer food and drink service and perform other special duties requested by the captain or co-pilot.

Flight attendants also make sure that passengers can find where they are going, answering questions and helping people to their seats. They may help families who are traveling with small children to stow car seats and other equipment. Flight attendants may also assist passengers with special needs, such as helping blind or deaf-mute passengers get around the plane.

At the end of a flight, they check that no one has left items behind in the cabin or bathroom. They also clean up trash and perform other cleanup tasks before de-boarding passengers.
