Feenix provides you with the opportunity to communicate and network with funders to support you and invest in your future. Donations from various people to raise funds for students is called crowdfunding.
So does Feenix fund private college courses?
The answer is no they don't. Feenix has stated that they only accommodate students who are registered at one of the 26 Public South African Universities.
If you are at a public university in South Africa then you may use Feenix to raise funds for the items listed on your university fee statement.
If the fee statement lists tuition, accommodation, book allowances and meal allowances for example, depending on what your university places on the statement, then you may raise funds for this on the Feenix platform.
The funds are paid out to your university twice a year and any excess funds will be reallocated to students who are yet to reach their fundraising goals or will be put toward the Feenix Pool Fund.
Feenix does not pay out any funds raised directly to students.
If you are looking to find funding for your studies the requirements to qualify for Feenix are as follows:
- A South African citizen/permanent resident/refugee or asylum seeker.
- A registered student at a public South African university.
- Have current or historical debt owing to your university.
- Have a combined household income of under R600k per year.
