The National Student Financial Aid Scheme helps underprivileged students make their dreams a reality by providing them with bursaries to attend any public university or TVET College.

Since 2018, many South African students have achieved their goals with the help of the bursary.

NSFAS is a government bursary available to all South African students whose combined household income is no more than R350 000 per annum and persons with disabilities whose combined household income is no more than R600 000 per annum.

The bursary covers the following:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation fees
  • Transport allowance
  • Living allowance
  • Personal care allowance

Applications are currently open and will remain open until 7 January 2022.

When applying online, the application form requires the name of your High School. However, sometimes the name of your High School does not appear on the form.

If this happens to you do not worry, all you need to do is select “Other” as an option and complete your application form.

Once you have applied, you may keep an eye on your application via your myNSFAS profile.
