The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has announced that schools in the province are finalising their admission lists. Parents whose children are on waiting lists are encouraged to be patient, as places may become available during this process.
Finalising admission lists is important as it confirms whether pupils who were offered admission will actually enrol in the school for 2025. If a school determines that a pupil who was offered placement will not be enrolling, that place will be given to a pupil on the waiting list.
With regards to Grade 1 and Grade 8 applications, schools are currently finalising their admission lists, confirming placements for children on their waiting lists. This process is ongoing.
The WCED had urged parents who have not yet submitted admission applications to contact a WCED district office for assistance with 2025 school applications.
We do, however, appeal to all parents and caregivers who have not yet applied for Grade 1 and Grade 8 for the 2025 school year, to do so immediately. They can contact their district office or call 0861 819 919 for more information.
Alternatively, parents can visit a school and request help with submitting an admissions application. However, this does not necessarily mean the application is for that particular school; the school is simply assisting with capturing the information.
Parents can also call the WCED admission office on 0861 819 919 between 7:30 AM and 5 PM.
Contact your district office for late 2025 Grades 1 and 8 school applications. Please call 0861 819 919 for further advice if required. Admission Office Hours: 07h30 - 17h00
The WCED also encourages parents who have relocated to the Western Cape after the admissions period to contact district education offices for admission assistance.
Parents who relocate to the Western Cape after the late application window closes or those who did not apply earlier for any reason must contact their district office as soon as possible for assistance. The WCED encourages applying early to avoid any last-minute complications.
