The statement released reads as follows:
Finance would like to notify you that all allowances, including transport allowance to qualifying students will be paid on Tuesday the 31st of March 2020.
NSFAS has sent an updated funding list which resulted in some students being funded and some students that had originally been funded being unfunded, communication has been sent to affected students with reasons for unfunding as per the NSFAS communication to the institution. Such students may appeal the NSFAS decision once the University re-opens after the lock down.
With regards to appeals that had already been submitted by students, the University will resume assessing such appeals and make recommendations to NSFAS once the University re-opens after the lock down. However, the final funding decision rests with NSFAS and allowances can only be paid to those appealing, once NSFAS gives the decision for the appeal.
