Puseletso says that “I love my working environment as I get to interact with people and I get to learn more about banking and the various directions that I can go in”. More than that, she says that she loves everything that comes with her role.
She has enjoyed both her formal, as well as corporate training experiences. “I started with an internship at Old Mutual which earned me a certificate in long and short-term investments. I am now on an internship with Standard Bank studying towards a banking certificate”. These are over and above her Boston qualifications.
Puseletso says that there are three essential qualities that one needs in order to be successful in her job, showing the human interaction side of finance very strongly:
- Patience
- Communication skills
- The love for client service
As she says: “It’s all about client centricity”. For those who wish to go into the banking industry and find work similar to hers, she recommends a Diploma in Financial Accounting. And what type of person should you be to be successful in this job? “Someone that enjoys numbers, having meaningful conversations and assisting people to meet their goals and needs”. While she is an accomplished individual, when asked what challenges she has had to overcome, her immediate response is “ My biggest challenge has been getting over the fear of making a mistake at work”.
“As a student, I had the best time studying as it allowed me flexible studying hours and it allowed me to study at my own pace. The student support is amazing. I loved it.
