SGS YES Internship Programme Now Open For Applications

The Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme at SGS is now open for applications. This opportunity offers unemployed young South Africans the chance to gain valuable workplace experience while working for one of the world’s leading inspection, testing and certification companies.

Successful candidates will be based in Barberton or Randfontein, where they will receive practical exposure in both field and laboratory environments.

YES Programme Responsibilities

Candidates selected for the SGS YES Internship Programme will assist with a variety of operational and laboratory duties. Key responsibilities include:

Cleaning the site or workshop after tasks have been completed or at the end of the workday, ensuring that all consumables used during the job such as masking tapes and containers are removed.

Following all quality and safety requirements set out in the SGS management system.

Reporting any deviations, irregularities or non-conformances to supervisors.

Completing additional reasonable tasks assigned by the authorised site supervisor, laboratory manager or regional manager.

Performing field and laboratory work, including sampling, calculations and test methods with accuracy.

Maintaining discipline and professionalism within the assigned department.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:

A minimum of Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.

Good proficiency in English.

Strong computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

An interest in data analysis and strong research abilities.

Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency when completing tasks.

Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently with initiative.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the YES Programme, applicants must:

Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.

Be between the ages of 18 and 33.

Be currently unemployed.

Not have participated in a YES Programme previously.

Have no criminal record.

Be willing to relocate to Barberton or Randfontein if required.

Application Note

If applicants do not receive any feedback within two weeks of submitting their application, they should consider their application unsuccessful.
