SABS Youth Development Programme 2026: Laboratory Services (Electro-technical) – 12-Month Contract

Location: Pretoria
Programme Duration: 12 Months (Fixed-Term Contract)
Stipend: R8 000 per month
Minimum Qualification: Diploma or Advanced Certificate
Start Date: April 2026

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) is inviting unemployed graduates to apply for its Youth Development Programme 2026 in Laboratory Services (Electro-technical).

This 12-month programme is designed to provide practical work experience, structured mentorship and valuable skills development aligned with national and organisational priorities.

About the SABS Youth Development Programme

Working at SABS offers graduates exposure to a dynamic environment focused on standardisation, quality assurance and innovation. The programme aims to equip young professionals with hands-on laboratory experience while supporting South Africa’s technical skills development.

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R8 000 for the duration of the programme.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

• Be a South African citizen
• Be between 18 and 35 years old
• Have completed a relevant Diploma or Advanced Certificate qualification
• Achieve a minimum academic average of 80%
• Have no formal work experience related to their field of study
• Be currently unemployed

Required Application Documents

Applicants must submit:

• A comprehensive CV
• Certified copy of ID
• Certified copies of qualifications

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection Process

• Qualification verification will be conducted
• Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
• If no feedback is received within 30 days after the closing date, please consider the application unsuccessful

Important Information

• Graduates with disabilities are encouraged to apply
• Late applications will not be accepted
• Successful candidates will sign a 12-month fixed-term Development Programme contract
