To date, Nedbank has been the largest contributor among South African banks participating in the YES initiative at scale, supporting more than 5 000 young people with workplace experience and skills that improve their chances of entering the job market or pursuing entrepreneurship.

What Is the YES Programme?

The Youth Employment Services (YES) Programme is a business-led partnership with government aimed at reducing youth unemployment. It provides young people with meaningful work experience and practical skills, helping them become more employable and better prepared for long-term career opportunities.

Be currently unemployed
Not be studying full-time or part-time

Programme Duration and Start Date

Successful applicants will be employed for a period of 12 months to gain quality workplace experience. The Nedbank YES Programme is not a learnership, internship or apprenticeship.

The programme is scheduled to commence on 1 May 2026.

YES Programme Stipend

Nedbank YES participants will receive a monthly stipend in line with YES Programme guidelines. The stipend is intended to assist with basic living, food and travel-related expenses.

Where Will the Work Experience Take Place?

The Nedbank YES work experience programme will take place at various Nedbank sites, branches and offices across South Africa. Depending on the role and division, some positions may offer hybrid or remote working arrangements.

Participants may be required to work weekdays or on a shift basis, which could include weekends and public holidays. Applicants must therefore be able to travel to and from their assigned Nedbank workplace.

The Nedbank YES Programme offers young people a valuable opportunity to gain workplace exposure within the banking sector while developing skills that support future employment.
