Buffalo Logistics Internship Programme 2026: Operations Excellence Analyst

Buffalo International Logistics has opened applications for its Operations Excellence Analyst Internship, offering a valuable opportunity for final-year students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the logistics and operations environment.

Based in Kempton Park, Gauteng, this internship forms part of a newly established Efficiency Committee and is ideal for candidates interested in process improvement, data analysis and operational governance.

About the Operations Excellence Analyst Internship

The Operations Excellence Analyst will support Buffalo Logistics’ internal operations improvement function. The role reports directly to the Head of the Efficiency Committee and focuses on improving efficiency, accountability and execution quality across business units.

Interns will work closely with frontline operational teams, management, HR and senior leadership, gaining exposure to real-world logistics operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Process Mapping and SOP Development

Work on-site with operational teams to understand daily workflows
Map end-to-end processes for key roles and functions
Identify process gaps, risks and inefficiencies
Develop and standardise standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflow diagrams and operating guidelines

Data and Basic Performance Analysis

Review and interpret operational reports and dashboards
Identify key operational data points and performance indicators
Conduct basic data analysis to support operational improvement
Link data findings to measurable outcomes such as efficiency, accuracy and compliance
Prepare structured, evidence-based reports

KPI Design and Management Support

Assist management in defining clear and measurable KPIs
Support departments in aligning KPIs with operational processes
Help explain KPI logic, measurement methods and operational impact

Operational Audits and Reviews

Conduct on-site operational checks and data-based reviews
Monitor KPI execution and identify deviations
Assist in identifying root causes of operational issues and non-compliance
Support follow-up reviews and continuous improvement actions

Cross-Functional Communication and Governance Support

Communicate findings clearly and professionally to teams
Provide documented operational evidence to management and HR when required
Support management discussions with fact-based reporting
Maintain objectivity and independence in all reviews

Minimum Requirements

Education

Final-year university student or recent graduate
Bachelor’s degree

Data and Computer Skills

Basic data analysis skills and ability to interpret reports
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data organisation
Working knowledge of PowerPoint or similar reporting tools
Ability to quickly learn internal systems and operational tools

Language Skills

Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Core Competencies

Strong sense of responsibility
High learning ability
Adaptability in a fast-changing operational environment
