Human Resources Specialists recruit, screen, interview job applicants and place newly hired workers in jobs, as well oversee the aspects of a work environment involving employees.

Human resources refers to the function in an organization that deals with the people that work within the organization, and the issues involving these people. These issues can be training, compensation and benefits, recruitment, hiring and onboarding of employees, etc.

A Human Resources Specialist is an expert with knowledge and skill in one or many fields of Human Resources. The size of the organization will determine the kind of work a Human Resources Specialist does.

How much money someone working in Human Resources (HR) might earn depends on their level of experience as well as their level of qualifications.

Here is a guide to how much money a Human Resource Specialist can earn:

The average Human Resources Manager salary in South Africa is R480 000 per year or R40 000 per year. Entry-level positions can start at R360 000 per year, while most experienced workers can earn up to R5 724 000 per year.

A Human Resources Specialist can earn an average of R540 006 per year, or R45 000 per month. Entry-level positions start at R330 000 per year, while most experienced workers can make up to R6 556 061 per year.

What can also influence your salary is which position you hold in a company's HR team.

Someone who's just starting out in their career will earn significantly less money than someone who's Chief or Vice President of the HR team.

Another (unfortunate) factor to keep in mind when it comes to earning a salary (in any job, not just HR), is that there are still pay gaps present especially for employees who are women and racial minorities. Because of this bias/discrimination, not all companies and businesses pay their employees the same.

Unless business/company policies are amended and work towards equal pay structures, you (as an employee) are very likely to receive a salary that is different from the amount of money other people you work with are receiving.
