You can apply for a SASSA food parcel by going to your nearest South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) office. The application form is not available online, but you can get it at your nearest SASSA office.

SASSA has announced that payments will continue after they were suspended due to the unrest. They will also be using their remaining budget in the Social Relief of Distress programme so that they can provide support in the form of food parcels, cash and food vouchers.

SASSA has decided to bring back their food relief programme after the country saw violent outbreaks this past week. They are however warning against fake applications for vouchers.

SASSA has fallen victim to many scams, as criminals have tried to defraud the agency's system. In response to the many attempts of theft, SASSA has created an anti-fraud strategy to crack down on criminals.

According to SASSA, temporary disability grants are only valid for a short period of time. The Democratic Alliance (DA) is now challenging this, as it is calling for the agency to extend the period to allow for more payments to be made.

On Thursday, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) stated what beneficiaries need to bring along when they collect their grant payment at the post office.

The current state of emergency has made it difficult for many to renew their disability grant applications. SASSA has now developed a strategy to help people renew their disability grants.

If your application for the R350 grant offered through Sassa was rejected, you might have a chance to appeal. Sassa and the Department of Social Development are working on an appeal system after many complained about delays and their applications being rejected on an unfair basis.

ANC Youth League has said that they want the R350 grant distributed by Sassa during lockdown to be increased to provide for unemployed youth more.
