Moving into a student accommodation facility is both an overwhelming and exciting journey to embark on. If you're planning to study in Cape Town, the Baobab student accommodation is an option to consider.

Located in the City of Cape Town, with student accommodation locations at three of the city’s main student hubs, The Baobab offers student and intern accommodation through the year.

They provide housing in Observatory, Salt River and Mowbray - suburbs which are noted for their large student population.

The Baobab says, “We provide comfortable, affordable, and quality accommodation that is ideally located, close to the public transport network (walking distance to the train stations, buses, taxis and university shuttles) and shops. Whether you need transport, groceries, take-out food, pubs, restaurants.”

Property capacity for each location are as follows:

  • Observatory on Main Road – A 15-bedroom, 5-bathroom property
  • Salt River - A 42 furnished rooms with ensuite bathroom
  • Observatory - A 5-bedroom, 2-bathroom house, with 5 bachelor units at the back of the property
  • Mowbray – A 11-bedroom, 4-bathroom house with a pretty garden

The student accommodation is NSFAS accredited with monthly prices ranging from R3 500 to R5 800 per person depending on where and what you book.

“The Baobab has been a University of Cape Town (UCT) accredited student accommodation provider since 2012. As such, we are also accredited for UCT NSFAS students and have accommodated many over the years.” notes the housing provider. 

Amenities at all locations:

  • CCTV cameras outside and in all internal communal areas
  • Fibre to the building. 3GB free monthly, thereafter, tenants purchase packages
  • Washing machine and tumble dryer on the premises
  • Live-in staff for after-hours assistance
  • Fulltime maintenance staff
  • Fulltime reception staff and cleaners
  • DSTV
  • Garden and Braai area – Mowbray location
  • Large cooking, dining, and lounge areas – Salt River location
  • Study lounge – Observatory location
