If anything, distance learning through Oxbridge Academy is affordable and convenient as you can study from home at your own pace. However, there is always a possibility that you will be easily distracted, surrounded by all the comforts and amenities of home.

Distance Learning Tips

The following tips will help you fend off these distractions.

Create a to-do list

With easy access to all the media devices at home, you may feel inclined to put your coursework aside to watch an episode of your favourite series. Avoid this by committing to a to-do list that will map out your daily tasks.

Spend a few minutes reviewing this schedule every morning and write down everything you must complete by the end of the day. Make sure to spread big projects over a few days to avoid overwhelming yourself.

Choose a designated workspace

When working in an office, you often have a dedicated workstation where you complete your projects, and there is a good reason for that. A workspace enables you to keep everything in order, allowing you to work efficiently.

Similarly, a dedicated workspace in a quiet area at home can benefit you. You can also add features that suit your learning style. When finished, you can get up and leave your personal study space.

Switch off your gadgets

Imagine this: you are sitting at your desk, going through your course material for the day, and you hear a WhatsApp notification. Would putting your phone away be your first reaction? Probably not, and like the rest of us, you will probably send a quick reply.

Doing this, however, can completely distract you from your coursework and could lead to procrastination. Thus, you should turn off all devices in and around your workspace not being used for study purposes.

Set a timer for breaks

Breaks are vital whether you attend a physical campus or study from the comforts of your own home. Ignore the inclination to push through and study continuously for hours. You will be more productive if you take intermittent breaks.

Do not waste a 30-minute break on your phone, play with a pet or take a walk around the neighbourhood. This will help keep your brain energised and refreshed.

Get enough sleep every night

Good sleep should not be undervalued because it can resolve most concentration issues. Do not study so late that you struggle to concentrate on your lectures the next day because you have trouble falling asleep.

Know your limits and avoid overworking yourself.
