The successful SHE Intern will join the SHERQ team in Centurion and provide administrative and technical support aimed at improving, maintaining and monitoring health, safety and environmental management systems. The role also involves supporting compliance initiatives and helping to ensure that workplace safety standards are maintained.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the RCL Foods SHE Internship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- A Diploma in Health and Safety or currently studying towards one
- SAMTRAC certification will be advantageous
- Knowledge of administration and internal compliance processes
- Project management skills
- Reporting and record-keeping abilities
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Internship Duties And Responsibilities
The successful intern will assist with a variety of health, safety and compliance activities, including:
Health And Safety Management
- Providing technical support for the improvement, maintenance and monitoring of existing management systems and standard operating procedures
- Supporting compliance with the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System
- Ensuring adherence to all company health, safety and environmental processes and procedures
- Conducting and reviewing workplace risk assessments
Compliance Inspections And Audits
- Conducting routine safety inspections, compliance checks and audits
- Identifying areas of non-compliance and assisting with corrective action plans
- Performing planned and unplanned safety inspections and compiling reports
- Ensuring fire extinguishers and first aid boxes are compliant, serviced and accessible
Reporting And Administration
- Compiling information for weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports
- Assisting with incident investigations and gathering relevant information
- Attending statutory health and safety meetings and recording meeting minutes
- Ensuring noticeboards display up-to-date health, safety and environmental information
Emergency Preparedness
- Scheduling and participating in emergency response drills
- Supporting initiatives that improve workplace safety awareness and preparedness
Corrective And Preventative Actions
- Assisting in driving the Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions (CAPA) system
- Monitoring follow-up actions to ensure continuous improvement in workplace safety performance
