There are 5 positions available for the Internship For Municipal Finance Management that is available for South African unemployed grads who have studied in a relevant field.

The programme runs in the Department of Finance at the Govan Mbeki Municipality on a two-year fixed term contract.

The MFMIP was introduced to assist municipalities to increase their capacity to implement the municipal finance reforms embodied in the MFMA. The MFMIP seeks to assist municipalities to develop interns with the knowledge and skills in areas such as strategic planning and management, municipal budgeting and finance management.

Govan Mbeki Municipality is looking for 5 graduates who will be placed as interns in the Budget and Treasury Office. The internship programme will run for a period of two years. Interns will also be  placed in other units deemed Appropriate by the Mentor/Supervisor to gain experience in municipal finance. 

The interns will be paid an all-inclusive stipend. The programme will be monitored by mentors All successful applicants will be required to sign an internship agreement.
