Gauteng Government Holds Nasi iSpani Relaunch

The Gauteng Provincial Government has officially launched the Nasi iSpani Reloaded Skills Development Programme – a bold initiative aimed at closing the skills gap and improving youth employability in the province. This large-scale programme will train thousands of young people in technical fields that align with the demands of Gauteng’s labour market.

Nasi Ispani Vacancies

In this phase of the programme, youth will be enrolled across 71 technical schools, where they will receive hands-on training in key technical subjects. The aim is to prepare participants for immediate job opportunities or self-employment while tackling unemployment challenges in the province.

Skills offered include:

  • Plumbing
  • Electronics
  • Woodworking and carpentry
  • Painting
  • Landscaping and grass cutting
  • Automotive repairs
  • Welding and metalwork
  • Domestic power systems
  • Tiling and floor finishing
  • Bricklaying and plastering

Upon completion, beneficiaries will receive industry-endorsed certificates, improving their chances of employment or entrepreneurship in these high-demand fields.

Nasi Ispani Jobs Programme Details

  • Duration: Training will run on weekends and during school holidays from 6 September 2025 to 31 January 2026.
  • Slots Available: A total of 45 218 training opportunities are open for youth across Gauteng.

Stipends

Beneficiaries will receive a stipend for the duration of the programme, depending on their education level:

  • Grade 9 – 12: R1 200
  • Matric with Maths/Technical Maths or Post-Matric Certificate: R3 000

Note: This cycle does not recruit graduates with Diplomas or Degrees.

Selection Criteria

The programme targets unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 35 in Gauteng who are Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEET). Beneficiaries were selected through the Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) and the Nasi iSpani Database.

Additional Training Opportunities With Nasi Ispani Jobs

Alongside technical training, participants will also receive Job Search Skills training to improve their chances of securing long-term employment. The programme is designed not just as a training initiative, but as a pathway to employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship.

Nasi iSpani Reloaded is one of Gauteng’s biggest youth development interventions to date – offering tens of thousands of young people the chance to gain skills, earn a stipend, and prepare for a brighter economic future.
