A career in the South African Navy is a life-changing opportunity. If you have always cherished the desire to serve in the South African Navy, here is everything you need to know.

You will be tasked with defending our country's territorial waters and its natural resources.

You will work in a diverse environment with a wide range of cultures.

The South African Navy (SAN) is one of the primary arms of service in the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).  As an officer in the Navy, you will be responsible for protecting the borders of South Africa by ensuring that illegal activities are stopped at sea. You will also have to ensure that laws and regulations regarding shipping and fishing are enforced.

You can literally be a part of history in the making.

The South African Navy is looking for people who are willing to serve their country and go through tough training so they can embark on various military missions - protecting our waters and shores from any form of attacks.

The requirements often change but generally include:

  • Must be between the age of 18-26
  • Have grade 12
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Be preferably single
  • Must not be area bound
  • Must be medically fit
  • No criminal offence
