An apprenticeship is a way of training a new generation of practitioners of a specific trade or profession through on-the-job training and some accompanying study. Apprenticeships can also enable practitioners to gain a license to practice in a regulated occupation.

An apprenticeship is based on an agreement between the individual (student) who wants to learn the skill and the employer who needs a skilled worker. Depending on the program, an apprenticeship can last from two to four years.

An HR apprenticeship combines on-the-job learning with academic study. The purpose is to equip students with the skills needed to operate successfully in a role, or to prepare them for the next step on your career path within the HR field.

Human Resources manages 5 main duties: talent management, compensation and employee benefits, training and development, compliance, and workplace safety. An HR department can help provide organizational structure and the ability to meet business needs by effectively managing the employee lifecycle.

HR apprenticeships are paid jobs in human resources and where you earn a salary, get practical hands-on training and work towards an HR-based qualification through a structured learning programme.

Apprenticeships are job orientated, but students can earn a salary while they get an education.

An apprentice in Human Resources (HR) helps the HR staff by offering the company a streamlined and effective service for all HR-related administrative duties. This position supports the business in a significant way and has a broad scope that includes involvement in all HR administration.

The main responsibilities of an HR apprentice would typically include supporting all aspects of the HR team with administrative tasks, such as processing paperwork, filing, handling e-mail, checking invoices, creating reports, gathering information, ordering IT equipment, making reservations as well as setting up meetings.

Apprentices are trained during their apprenticeship program to immediately get into the role of an employee, as they are formally trained on the job and certified for a particular industry, which in this case is the HR industry.

There are several companies offering apprenticeships in Human Resources, and the experience can have a multitude of benefits.
