The Military Skills Development System (MSDS) programme 2025/2026 is now open for applications.  The MSDS is a two-year voluntary service system with the long-term goal of enhancing the SA National Defence Forces deployment capability. This could be the Army, Navy, Air Force or Military Health Service. Details of this year's programme have been announced.


If you recently matriculated but pursuing a tertiary education is not part of your future plans or perhaps you are not sure which path to pursue, then you might want to consider joining the South African Navy. The MSDS is the easiest way to enter the SA Navy.
