CACH refers to the Central Application Clearing House. The CACH sign-up service collects information on learners with grade 12 results who are seeking placement at a University, University of Technology, or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College at the beginning of the year.
Institutions and the sector education and training authorities (SETAs) use the database for placement. Where places exist and prospective students meet the requirements, institutions will contact them directly once they have accepted the offer on the CACH system.
CACH is another option that can be considered by those who applied on time for post-school learning opportunities and were not offered space to study by the institutions they applied to or did not receive any responses.
CACH cannot guarantee a space to study. It is advisable to plan and apply early, preferably a year before a space to study in the institutions of higher learning.
