CACH refers to the Central Application Clearing House. The CACH sign-up service collects information on learners with grade 12 results who are seeking placement at a University, University of Technology, or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College at the beginning of the year.
Institutions and the sector education and training authorities (SETAs) use the database for placement. Where places exist and prospective students meet the requirements, institutions will contact them directly once they have accepted the offer on the CACH system.
CACH does not select prospective students to be considered for space. It is the prerogative of institutions to select students on the CACH database.
Prospective students have two days to accept or reject an offer. A maximum of three offers will be made to prospective students thereafter they are removed from the database and will not be allowed to sign up again.
CACH urged all prospective students to respond to all offers made to them. It is not wrong to reject an offer.
