The Further Education and Training (FET) certificate is a NQF level 2-4 and offers the traditional academic curriculum (culminating in an NSC) as well as a range of vocational modules.
It is an occupational, vocational or skills-based qualification that is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to perform specific tasks in the workplace. It is a lower-level qualification than a National Certificate or Diploma, and is typically completed after the completion of a Grade 9.
FET Certificates in South Africa are recognised by employers and industry bodies, and may be a requirement for entry into a particular profession or career path. They are also valued by learners as evidence of their practical skills and knowledge, and can provide a pathway to further study at higher levels, such as a National Certificate or Diploma.
