Can I use another person’s account if I do not have a bank account neither a cellphone when applying for the SRD grant?

Answer

Where an applicant does not have a bank account, he/she must indicate from the drop-down list the nearest bank through which they want to be paid. Money will therefore be paid into the applicant’s cellphone number.

Where an applicant does not have a bank account and does not have a cell phone registered in his/her name, the payments can be collected at a merchant of their choosing such as Checkers, Shoprite, boxer and Usave.

Using another person's account or cellphone may result in delays or complications in the application and payment process, as the information provided may not match the applicant's personal details.

If you do not have a bank account or cellphone, you may consider opening a bank account and obtaining a cellphone number in your name.

Many financial institutions offer basic bank accounts with no monthly fees or minimum balances, which may be suitable for receiving the SRD Grant payments. If you are unable to open a bank account or obtain a cellphone, you may consider seeking assistance from a local community organisation or charity to help you with the application process.
