Answer

The acronym ABET stands for Adult Basic Education and Training. It is aimed at providing uneducated South Africans with the skills necessary to improve their quality of life. ABET centres have since been established across the country in all provinces.

ABET learning begins at the grade 1 level and continues through to grade 12 with matric certification at the end of the course.

To learn more about ABET operations please visit the Department of Basic Education website for more information on the following link: https://www.education.gov.za/

The ABET is the adult education initiative that started its operations in April 1999. At the end of April 2001, there were 25 centres operating in the Limpopo Province and 20 in the Eastern Cape.
