Although Mathematics Literacy is different from pure Mathematics, it does not necessarily mean that it is easier than Math Literacy for each individual.
It has been said that Math Literacy is easier, with its exclusion of algebra, calculus and trigonometry. However, if your strengths lie in those areas, then you might find pure mathematics better to your liking. Therefore it is very much dependent on the student.
Math Literacy is, however, the more practical math option as it places focus on everyday mathematics, and typically, a student who takes Mathematics Literacy will average higher in the subject than they would have if they had taken pure Mathematics, so in that regard, it is the easier option.
