Seriti Resources is a leading South African mining and energy company, primarily focused on thermal coal production. Established in 2017, Seriti is 91% black-owned and controlled, co-owned by four black anchor shareholders: Masimong Group, Thebe Investments, Zungu Investments (Zico), and Community Investment Holdings (CIH).
The company operates several large-scale opencast and underground coal mines, supplying coal to Eskom's power stations and export markets. Seriti's operations include the Kriel, New Denmark, New Vaal, Khutala, Klipspruit, Middelburg, and Wolvekrans mines. In 2021, Seriti acquired South Africa Energy Coal (SAEC) from South32, further expanding its asset base .
Seriti is committed to a just energy transition, aiming to balance the country's energy needs with environmental sustainability. The company is developing the New Largo mine to provide additional coal supplies and is exploring renewable energy projects through its subsidiary, Seriti Green .
