CPD Academy, short for Commercial Professional Driver Academy, is a specialized training institution based in Holgatfontein, Gauteng, South Africa. It focuses on producing highly skilled, safety-conscious commercial drivers through structured, accredited programs. The academy was established by Reinhardt Transport Group and is supported by industry partners like AFRIT and Scania.
Core Services & Programs
1. Professional Truck Driver Learnership (TETA-accredited)
This flagship 13-month program combines theoretical instruction with extensive on-the-road training. It is divided into four phases:
Phase 1: Two months of classroom and yard-based training (360 hours).
Phase 2: Eight weeks of accompanied driving (22,000–25,000 km).
Phase 3: Eight months of solo driving (minimum 128,000 km).
Phase 4: Employment placement with partner transport companies or through labor brokers.
Participants begin earning a stipend from Phase 2, with potential monthly earnings ranging from R12,000 to R26,000 by the program's end.
2. Transport Clerk Learnership
This program trains individuals for administrative roles in logistics, focusing on transport operations, documentation, and compliance.
3. Additional Training Modules
CPD Academy offers various supplementary courses, including:
- TMS Tablet Training
- Driver Trainer Certification
- PC Skills
- PBS (Performance-Based Standards) Training
- Occupational Certificates for Truck Drivers and Transport Clerks
- E-learning modules for professional truck drivers
Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Grade 10 certificate
- At least 27 years old
- Proficiency in English and/or Afrikaans
- Valid Code 14 EC driver’s license with PrDP (temporary PrDPs accepted)
- Valid South African passport
- Clean criminal record
- Pass a psychometric assessment with a trainable outcome
- Attend an interview
- Pay a registration fee (contact CPD Academy for the current amount)
- Sign a training contract and complete an induction
Required documents include certified copies of ID, driver's license, PrDP, passport, latest academic results, an updated CV, a motivational letter, and a reference letter.
