Following the IEB’s matric results announcement, PROTEC – an NGO that has been transforming lives through STEM education for over 40 years – has reported with exceptional achievements from its Class of 2023 learners. With a nearly 95% overall pass rate, an impressive 75% bachelor pass rate, and a total of 384 distinctions, these learners, hailing from PROTEC's 11 branches and projects across four provinces, have overcome adversity with dedication and support.

Matric students from all over South Africa have achieved exceptional matric results through the intervention of PROTEC, a 40-year-old NPO that provides educational support in STEM skills subjects. Without PROTEC’s intervention, it is unlikely that these students would have achieved these remarkable results. The majority of these students were selected for the programme on the basis of their potential in the STEM subjects.

Over 200 Grade 9 learners – many of who are from underprivileged communities – recently attended a 5-day immersive camp designed to inspire the next generation of engineers to build a more innovative, sustainable world and boost the uptake of engineering as a career. The camp, which forms part of the GE Next Engineers one-year programme, included a wide range of activities, challenges, prizes, teamwork, inspirational talks and presentations.
