DO MORE Foundation

As part of an enduring mission to uplift the lives of young children and their families, the Foundation has, in eight communities across South Africa, supported 526 ECD centres and empowered 1,260 ECD workers in to ensure the 20,929 young children under their care are afforded quality nutrition, early learning and supportive caregivers.

From cooking demonstrations, food tasting and open dialogues, this World Food Day is an opportunity for South African NPO, the DO MORE FOUNDATION, to promote better nutrition for South Africa’s young children who need it most. Do More is partnering with key early childhood development (ECD) partners, including the Department of Health, to increase the nutrition literacy of 1,000 practitioners and cooks.

In celebration of Mandela Day, over 25 *business partners and over 500 volunteers joined the DO MORE FOUNDATION’s ‘Mandela Day of Play’ campaign, bringing more opportunities for play, learning and growth to 9,600 young children in 192 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres across South Africa.

The first five years of a child's life are crucial for developing concepts, skills, and attitudes that form the basis for children to thrive. To celebrate the late Nelson Mandela’s playful spirit and lifelong commitment to social justice over July, the DO MORE FOUNDATION (founded by RCL FOODS) is bringing together over *15 business partners and over 500 volunteers to bring more play to approximately 9,600 young children at 192 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres across South Africa.

Following the noteworthy achievement of being awarded the prestigious Mandela Rhodes Foundation Äänit Prize, in September 2022, Dr Jessica Ronaasen, National Programmes Lead at the DO MORE FOUNDATION (DMF), in collaboration with key partners, has successfully spearheaded a transformational programme across South Africa.

International Nelson Mandela Day is celebrated annually on the 18th of July, to honour and commemorate the late South African political leader and revolutionary on his birthday. It is a day when people across the globe dedicate 67 minutes of their time to engaging in activities that create a positive and meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
