The South African Student Congress (Sasco) wants firm action to be taken against Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan.
Sasco president Bamanye Matiwane said the recent loadshedding will have an impact on pupils and students who are currently sitting for their final exams.
We find it quite unacceptable that students must be faced with challenges that will be compounded by load shedding, especially in light of the need for electricity to enable online learning and exams.
Students will, as a result of the state's of affairs, face academic anxiety. This is in light of concerning mental health issues within the sector, said the student organisation.
Matiwane adds that Gordhan admitted to loadshedding being a human error which puts into question his ability as the Minister of Enterprise to resolve the loadshedding crisis.
President Cyril Ramaphosa must show bold leadership and remove him from his cabinet, Sasco said.
Sasco calls for the removal of Gordhan and the CEO of Eskom, and strongly condemns corruption within the ranks of government.
The South African Student Congress president said they have noted with dismay the alleged sabotage of matric examinations by the implementation of loadshedding.
Matiwane said Eskom Chief Executive Officer Andre de Ruyter, has not only failed to provide consistent electricity to the people of South Africa, but generally does not care about the future of the country as lights are turned off when learners across the country are sitting for examinations.
Eskom said stage four load shedding, which started on Wednesday, will continue until 5am on Friday morning.
