Violence against teachers has become a cause for concern in the Western Cape, as more pupils have been reported for attacking teachers on school premises. The spokesperson for the provincial department of education discusses how they have been addressing this issue. 


A group of Grade 12 pupils in the Western Cape will soon be writing Africa's first-ever matric paper on marine science. One of them went down her journey in studying the subject over the past three years.


The ability to read for meaning and pleasure is the most important skill that children can learn in primary school. Western Education MEC Debbie Schäfer knows this as well as any educator, as she kicked off her national book week by visiting Laerskool Laurus in Oudtshoorn.


Belinda Petersen has become the first black principal of Rustenburg Girls' Junior School in Rondebosch, Cape Town. This comes as the school is making inroads towards creating a more transformative environment for its learners.


Western Cape schools saw a fewer number of learners attending as they reopened schools on Monday. It's not clear if the taxi violence has completely stopped in the province but it has been impacting the number of learners present at schools.


The Western Cape Education Department has ruled that not all schools across will resume full-time attendance due to social distancing rules. The Department announced that primary school learners will return to schools full-time from 26 July.


The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has revealed that it will avail more almost three hundred of it's final year nursing students to assist with administering Covid-19 vaccine in throughout the province. The country is currently in phase 2 of the national vaccine rollout.
