Since students and staff started returning to campuses in June, more reports have come of students and staff on campuses and residences testing positive for Covid-19.

Although most Universities have provided students with laptops, Government has seen delays in the process of procuring these devices. Nzimande discussed this in his briefing and also made other recommendations to improve learning during this time such as resources and connectivity.

Nzimande has reported that with Health Check, a screening app, hundreds of thousands of screenings have taken place at campuses across South Africa as students are welcomed back in a phased approach.

The Minister of Higher Education has announced the dates for when those Universities who have not seen students return will be doing so. He has also given an update on Covid-19 in Higher Education and the effects it has had on Higher Education.
