youth unemployment

It’s easy to believe that youth joblessness is a South African problem, yet the truth is that globally youth unemployment is on the rise.

With unemployment in South Africa at its highest rate since 2003 and 58% of unemployed people being between 15 and 34 years old, the Shoprite Group is searching for bright, hard-working young people who need funding in order to continue their post-school education and have a better chance of finding jobs.

From 1 April 2019, work experience will no longer be a requirement for recruitment for entry level jobs in the public sector, the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) has announced.

Life can go from bad to worse within a few months of unemployment. In this article we learn about how Nondumiso Maseko and Lwando Giyama had to readjust to being home as unemployed graduates, as told by Siyanda Mbuzo.

Unemployment is a challenge facing many South Africans and it affects almost every part of their lives. But unemployment can also cause us to lose friends, writes Siyanda Mbuzo (@CeeTheStyle).

Being an unemployed graduate is enormously stressful, and an active strategy is required to turn the situation around, an education expert says.

Interested applicants should be graduates aged between 18 and 35 years old though up to 38 years old will be considered subject to certain conditions.

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has vowed to continue prioritising youth development and contribute towards identifying and implementing lasting solutions to address youth challenges.
